Abigail Reynolds analysis and inspired work

Abigail Reynolds

Abigail Reynolds is an artist that works in Cornwall and London, she works with photographs of landscapes that she finds in books and uses typography and collage to enhance them.
this image is two photographs that are overlapping in the top layer windows have been cut so that you can see part of the image underneath.
I have chosen to analyse this piece of work because I find the technique that she uses quite interesting and I like the final result of her work.
I decided to have a go at recreating her work;

I made these images by;
1) I got two photographs and cut the down to the same size, I then cut windows into one of the photographs and then placed it on top of the other.
2) For this image I got one photograph and a piece of coloured paper I used the coloured paper as the bottom layer and cut windows into the photograph.

the genre of her work is landscape, this does not relate to my theme but the theme of her work is collage and paper cuts, I would like to use this in my work because I enjoyed recreating hers.
the subject of her work is landscape photographs from books, I think the deeper meaning of her work could be that you are looking through the first picture to see the meaning of the second one.
after looking at Abigail Reynolds work I think that it is quite similar to the work of Lisa Hedge, I think this because they both use paper cuts in a similar way.
this piece of work has inspired me and I would like to loose it in my future work, I really enjoyed recreating her work and I like the final outcomes
