Paul Butler In-depth analysis

Paul Butler

Piece from Paul Butlers from his 'Within us' series.

Paul Butler is a contemporary artist born in 1973, Winnipeg, Canada.
He has exhibited at:
-The museum of contemporary art, Los Angeles
-Plug in ICA, Winnipeg
-While columns, New York city
-Creative growth art centre, Oakland
and
-Sparwasser HQ, Berlin

He has also contributed writing to the book Decentre: Concerning Artist-Run culture (2008) and the magazines Canadian art and Hunter and Cook.
Butler is a Canadian artist who is best known for his simple collages and drawings.
He also hosted events such as 'The collage party' and ran his own commercial enterprise 'The other gallery'.
He is currently living in Montreal where he is completing a MFA at Concordia University.
I chose to analyse his work because i found it on Pinintrest whilst searching for the topic theme of inside, outside and in-between  I like his work because of the depth of field in the background and the fact that the person has been removed from the picture. This piece of work has inspired me to use it in one of my experiments both hand made and in Photo-shop.
This picture was made by using two different photographs taken in the same place and then the people were removed from  the image and they were layered on top of each other.
